2021 (& 2020) - A Look Back
I’ve been doing these year in review posts every year since starting my photography career, with the exception of last year. As you can imagine, since I’m primarily a wedding photographer, I did very little professional work in 2020. It was a year of lockdowns, wedding postponements, navigating remote learning for our eldest, home projects & frankly, trying not to let the depression of it all get the best of me. That said, I did still shoot a few lovely, scaled back outdoor weddings, etc & took some personal photos that deserved to see the light of day, so I’ve included some of those here.
2021 was…. better. Still not great in the world & as I write this, the pandemic is in the midst of yet another wave (sigh). However, thanks to vaccinations, weddings did happen again & started to look more “normal” (whatever that word even means anymore).
Despite all of the challenges that the pandemic has presented, I’m fortunate to have shot some gorgeous weddings for some amazing & resilient clients. It’s been a crazy time to be a wedding vendor, but an equally crazy time to plan a wedding. Kudos to all of my clients that pulled it off against all odds.
These pandemic years were also the year of the road trip for many, including our family. We hit Crater Lake, Mt. Rainier & Yosemite National Parks, to name a few places.
I was also extremely excited to have the opportunity to do some commercial work for a fantastic vineyard in Oregon’s Willamette Valley, called Archery Summit. It was a wonderful experience & the type of work that I hope to do more frequently.
Feels like we keep saying this every year, but I sure do hope 2022 is a better year for all of us.
