2023- A Look Back
It’s difficult for me to strictly focus on my work when reflecting on the year, because family life, travel & other artistic endeavors all shape the way I see the world.
Like every year, 2023 had its share of highs & lows. The passing of my father made it a particularly challenging year on a personal level. He was a great dad & I’ll miss him very much. Losing a loved one is also a reminder of the importance of what I do, because photos & memories comprise much of what we’re left with.
That all said, 2023 did have it’s share of highs. I shot some absolutely gorgeous weddings that took me to amazing locations. The southern Oregon coast, Snoqualmie Falls in Washington, Silcox Hut on Mt. Hood, Santa Barbara, CA & a lovely family farm in Wisconsin, to name a few. It also seemed to be the year of live music at weddings, which always makes me happy.
In addition to spots around the PNW, we ended our year with a family Trip to Joshua Tree, CA (via Palm Springs). It was a lovely way to wrap up a difficult year… though a family trip with two young kids is not without its own challenges, ha.
I also have continued to work on new music, including writing & recording the song embedded below (listen while you scroll, if you’d like). And even more than usual, it was the year of the DIY home improvement project. I tackled a number of big projects… none of which are pictured, so you’ll have to take my word for it. One of which was building a fence for the newest member of the family, our dog Mezzy.
Looking forward to what 2024 has to offer. I still have dates open, so reach out if you need a wedding, elopement (or other) photographer!
Wishing everyone a very happy & healthy new year.
